Hello, my name is Swan Mueller.

I am a lifelong traveller, retired world language educator and passionate cultural guide. My career spans decades of teaching at the high school and collegiate levels and working in the international sector. I have journeyed extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East, engaged in cross-cultural collaboration and guided many people on meaningful journeys.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Taught French, Japanese, ESL and global studies for 30 years at the high school-level in Pittsburgh, PA
Spent three years teaching English at a college in Nagasaki, Japan
Worked for the Egyptian Embassy and an Austrian firm for three years in Washington, D.C.
Led many school trips throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan

PHILOSOPHY

I believe travel is a powerful tool for personal growth, broadening perspective in ways few other experiences can. Stepping into a new environment challenges assumptions, nurtures curiosity and builds empathy by revealing how others live and see the world. Travel encourages adaptability, deepens cultural understanding and often renews a sense of wonder, leaving travelers not only with lasting memories but also with a richer way of thinking long after the journey ends.
